History of Sisters of Iron
2017- Anna Martin was asked to start the committee by then president Shane Nehls.
2018- Anna selected Jessica Harris to head the committee, where she held the chair until 2022.
2023- Jessica handed the committee over to Willow Ryan. Willow immediately asked Courtney Newberg to co-chair.
2024 - Chara Tagen was appointed Recording Secretary, Whitney Peck was appointed Treasurer,
Sierrah Kienitz and Katelyn Lee were appointed as Trustees.

Sisters of Iron Committee Mission
We are a recognized committee for Local 29. We organize meetings and events to develop trade, life, social and problem solving skills to assist women with the completion of the apprenticeship program and move into positions of leadership.
We promise we will uphold:

- Solidarity: Respect and support sisters AND brothers by listening and educating on the importance for this committee and population growth of women and minorities in our Local.

- Professionalism: Treat brothers and sisters with respect; the way we wish to be treated.
- Education: Mentoring and modules around skill development.
- Outreach, Education, recruitment: Participate in fundraisers and outreach opportunities to improve and increase women and minority membership.
- Discourse/conflicts: To the best of our ability, we will take moments of discrimination, harassment, disregard, disrespect or being treated differently on account of our gender, as opportunities to educate on our mission and methods of maintaining solidarity and growing our memberships to benefit all IW’s.
